The Nest was rocking on opening night as the Eagles boys basketball team claimed a gritty, high-energy victory over California Yeshiva High School. The gym shook, the crowd roared, and Logan Memorial basketball officially announced: We’re here this season.

And front and center in the spotlight?
Freshman point guard Matt — your Game MVP.

Despite being new to the varsity stage, Matt played like he’d been here for years. He controlled the game’s rhythm, dove on the floor for loose balls, fired off pinpoint assists, and set a defensive tone that the rest of the team fed off. His intensity became the heartbeat of the Eagles all night long.

But this win wasn’t a one-man show.

Jose (“Tiny”) sparked the offense early with some big-time plays, bringing energy and toughness before fouling out late in the fourth. His early contributions helped build the foundation for the win.

Senior forward Moises dominated the boards, pulling down rebounds that kept the Eagles in control of possessions. Every time the ball went up, Moises was there to clean it up.

Freshman forward Vince showed nerves of steel, drilling a clutch three-pointer and adding a strong put-back that ignited the crowd and swung momentum Logan Memorial’s way.

Adiel brought the flash, knocking in exciting buckets that kept Logan Memorial  in the driver’s seat, while Isaac came up big with defensive stops that shut down California Yeshiva’s late-game push.

And while the players delivered on the court, the night carried extra meaning off of it…

A Historic Moment for Coach X

This wasn’t just a win — it was Coach X’s first-ever victory as a varsity head coach, and he did it in his debut. The team rallied behind him, executed his game plan, and delivered a milestone moment that he (and the school) won’t forget.

From rookies to seniors, starters to the bench, every Eagle locked in and contributed to a statement win.
